Dastaar (2026)
Dastaar (2026) is a Punjabi drama directed by Amar Hundal and produced by White Hill Studios, starring Tarsem Jassar in the lead role, with Geet Goraya, Yograj Singh and Sarbjit Cheema in important roles. The film is set in 1980s Britain, a time when immigrant families faced open racism on the streets of England.
Harnek (Tarsem Jassar) arrives in a foreign country carrying his faith, his values and his dastaar, his turban, as a proud part of who he is. Life in the new land is hard from the start, but it turns tragic when a brutal racist attack takes away the people he loves. Broken by grief, Harnek faces a choice that defines the whole film: hide who he is to stay safe, or stand taller than before. He chooses to stand. Slowly, the same man who arrived as a vulnerable newcomer becomes the voice of his community, fighting for dignity, protecting others, and proving that identity is not something to apologise for.
Shot on real locations in Hull and the north of England, Dastaar is a story of courage, sacrifice and Sikh pride, showing how one man’s turban became a symbol of hope for an entire community far from home.
